I too, have known Autumn too long.

I too, have known autumn too long.

"A wind has blown the rain away and blown the sky away and all the leaves away, and the trees stand. I think, I too, have known autumn too long."
- e.e. cummings

Despite it officially being Winter in England, it still feels like Autumn. I woke up this morning and it was warm and sunny, and for a moment I completely forgot what time of year it was!

Tomorrow I'm going back home to Telford, it's always far colder up there so I imagine I'll get much more into the winter spirit. I'm really looking forward to the journey, it's about 3 hours on the train just reading and watching the countryside drift by. I love trains, they're warm and have a good amount of people on them, not too many and not too few. You never know who you can meet on a train either, I know someone whose parents met whilst on a train from London to Edinburgh. Just travelling feels nice as well, it's so calming for me. There are no distractions and you can either just concentrate completely on what you're doing or daydream for hours on end.

I made my own Hummus today to take back home for my mum, it came out a little chunkier than usual and pretty lemony but it was altogether pretty fantastic - and I put in a bit of paprika to give it a brighter colour. It's my first time making it from scratch and it turned out far better than I could have hoped.

I'll probably not have the time to update whilst at home, so I'll see you in a week.

P.S Have a nice 11/11/11 tomorrow, make your wishes count!

Gingerbread Sun

Gingerbread Sun
I am so glad it's Winter.

When I woke up this morning the sun was nowhere to be seen, the ground was covered in red and orange leaves and I could smell rain and gingerbread. I don't even know where the gingerbread smell came from, though it might be my subconscious need for a gingerbread latte from Starbucks! I really wish my grant would hurry up and come through so I can buy one (also a new phone that I won't lose this time!).

I keep thinking that it's too early for Christmas related posts, but then I remember that it's November. The year's gone by so quickly, it feels like it was only just Spring!
I'm looking forward to layering knits and buying myself a nice pair of wine coloured jeans and some Chealsea boots. I've had my eye on a pair of leopard print loafers in Topshop for a while now, but my housemate has them. Would it be too weird if I got them too?

I don't think the gang and I are doing anything for Bonfire night tonight, we'll probably just stand in the garden and watch everyone else's fireworks! I don't know why, but Bonfire Night makes me feel incredibly British. Do they get it over in America? I should probably know these things. I have the hugest craving for Toffee apples though, I haven't seen any in shops this year and I keep reading recipes online, so I'm going to be completely on the ball next year and make a batch of cinnamon ones.

Happy Holidays, everyone!

Hello Blogger, I completely forgot you existed.

I'm sorry, I really am. I've dropped the ball, I'm a terrible person.
Please forgive me.
Thanks.
I've been attempting (somewhat in vain) to get my life in order, which has been having varying levels of success. I'm still in uni, still unemployed, still pale and still (though dabbling several times into romantic forays) cripplingly single.
This is not, however, a 'oh look at me, feel sorry for me' post.
This is a don't worry, I'm not dead and I'll begin updating regularly.
And I will this time, I promise!
